Our hippo stuffed animal

Moses, nicknamed “Momo”, is an adorable hippopotamus who was born near Kampala, on the shores of Lake Victoria. Unlike all the other hippos, Momo doesn’t know how to swim, because he’s very afraid of water. So, Momo is always alone; he has no friends. The other hippos, who splash and play in the lake, sometimes come over to try and get him to join in their games, but it never works. Momo gets very bored and is often sad. He walks along the edge of the lake, eats delicious juicy fruits that he finds under the trees, and uses his free time to take long naps in the sun. One day, a little boy came up to him and asked: "Why are you always all alone? Don’t you have any friends?" Momo explained his situation to him. The next day, the little boy came back with a beautiful float belt filled with small colorful floaties. Momo thought the belt was very pretty and quickly put it around his belly. The little boy told him it was a magic belt that would let him swim safely without ever drowning—and now he could go play with all his friends. The float was indeed magical, because it let him cool off in the lake. But the most important thing was that it helped him make lots of new hippo friends… and one very special human friend. Since that day, you can often see the little boy riding on Momo the hippo’s back in Lake Victoria.
