Our stuffed animal panther

The story of Indira, the panther

Indira was born on a summer night in a beautiful tropical forest in India. Unlike other black panthers, she suffered greatly from loneliness. In the dense jungle, she never encountered other panthers, and the animals she did meet fled at the sight of her, so afraid were they of being devoured. Her only pleasure was listening to the sounds of the forest: the singing of birds, the creaking of branches, the rustling of leaves, the cries of monkeys, and the calls of rare birds. Sometimes she heard the trumpeting of an elephant or the roar of a tiger. Thus, her daily wanderings were accompanied by these magnificent, exotic sounds. One day, Indira heard a very different sound—one she had never heard before. It was an enchanting and gentle melody. She couldn't help but follow it, and this new sound led her to the edge of the forest. There, she saw a little girl alone, playing a beautiful instrument called a sitar. Dazzled, Indira approached and stayed nearby. Surprisingly, the little girl was not afraid. From that day on, Indira and the little girl were never alone again. The girl played endlessly to please Indira, and Indira, proud to have such an extraordinary friend, watched over her and protected her from all dangers.
